Child Care

LADACIN’s Give and Take Child Care and Preschool Center provides a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for children ages six weeks to nine years. We are happy to announce that we have successfully completed the Grow NJ Kids provisional rating process and have been awarded 4 stars!*

Programs which include infant, toddler, preschool, and morning and afternoon wraparound care are open Monday – Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In accordance with our mission, services are open to children with disabilities as well as typically developing children.

Give and Take Child Care participates in Grow NJ Kids (a quality rating improvement system) enabling us to meet our on-going goals by readily reevaluating program needs and using an innovative approach to improve the learning and growth of the children we serve. This is an initiative evaluated by the state every 3 years to ensure growth. There are 5 categories embedded in the system: Safe and Healthy Learning Environment, Curriculum and Learning Environment, Family and Community Engagement, Workforce Professional Development, and Administration and Management.

Give and Take Child Care is an inclusive learning environment. We accept children of all abilities and are here to support parent needs. Tuition subsidies are available to families from Child Care Resources (CCR). If you need additional supports, please contact the Head Teacher for guidance.

*Grow NJ Kids is a state-sponsored initiative to raise the quality of childcare and early learning throughout New Jersey.

Safe and Healthy Learning Environment

Safe and Healthy Learning Environment

Providing our children with a safe and healthy environment is a priority at Give and Take Child Care. We offer on-site opportunities for select parental approved health screenings and our children’s learning and play space is up to the highest quality control standards. In addition, we use Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) to screen our children (birth to age six) for accurate developmental and social emotional health. Parents are a part of the process and if there are any areas of development that need attention parents are provided with support and resources.

Curriculum and Learning Environment

Give and Take Child Care uses Creative Curriculum, a researched based program that translates child development theory into best practice. The curriculum includes five basic components: knowing children, creating a responsive environment, focusing on what children are learning, caring and teaching, and building partnerships with families. To ensure the curriculum is delivered to fidelity, staff is thoroughly trained in classroom observation tools: Infant/toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS), in both student learning specific needs and environmental attention. Individual differences are celebrated and accommodations and modifications according to student individual needs are readily available. Give and Take accepts children of all abilities and offers a rich integration program with the Schroth School Preschool Program.

Family and Community Engagement

Family and community engagement is paramount at our childcare center. We elicit feedback regularly in the form of surveys, emails, meetings (Zoom), and small conversations. Give and Take staff and families work together in Strengthening Families, a research-informed approach to increase family strengths and enhance child development. There are five key Protective Factors woven into this approach: parent resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and social and emotional competence of children. We have a consortium of parents who work together to create meaningful goals and objectives in the key protective factors.

Workforce Professional Development

To ensure quality in delivering on all Grow NJ initiatives, staff development is rich, vast, and constant. Annually, all teaching staff and program directors receive a minimum of 120 combined hours of staff development and training on curriculum alone. Other areas of training include child nutrition, CPR, EpiPen administration, child abuse, neglect, and mental health.
