Maria Figueroa Receives Recognition for Exceptional Service to Our Students

ASAH, a nonprofit organization comprised of private schools and agencies offering specialized services to children with disabilities in New Jersey, has honored Maria Figueroa of LADACIN Network with the State of New Jersey Paraprofessional of the Year Award. This recognition, given for her exceptional service and commitment to students with special needs, was presented at The Westin Princeton on June 7, 2024.

This accolade recognizes her outstanding dedication, compassion, and expertise in supporting the students she serves, by helping them to increase their independence and maximize their potential which aligns with the agency’s mission statement.

Maria has been a loyal Schroth School staff member for 22 years.  Her willingness to share historical knowledge and impart wisdom of experiences aids her colleagues in making decisions in the best interest of the students and serves as a model for newer staff members.

Maria proactively advocates for students, ensuring the Transdisciplinary Team effectively addresses their academic, medical, and therapeutic needs. She contributes positively to the classroom and enriches the student learning environment and has a wonderful relationship with families.

Maria attends all school events for the classroom and the school. She works with our Student Activities Committee contributing valuable ideas, planning the events and actively participating, making the event special for all participants. Maria is often searching for new ways to grow as a paraprofessional and takes on new initiatives with a positive outlook.

She further states, “It is noteworthy this is the second time in 3 years paraprofessionals from the Schroth School have been awarded this honor, a tribute to the level of care the Schroth School students receive from the amazing staff.”
